Abby ended her first year (and only! LOL) as a Kindergartner with a bang. Her end of year report card showed that she'd done an excellent job learning all she was supposed to know. Her reading changed from just barely being able to sound out simple words to reading her First Reader books. Writing has changed from letters that faced every which way to facing the correct was 99% of the time. (Those darn Gs, 6s, 2s, and 5s.) She loves PE, computers, art, and writing stories. While Abby has a tendency to try to wander during Circle Time, she's sitting still a lot more than her Preschool days. She made some new friends and is looking forward to seeing them again next year. In exciting news, her teacher this year (Mrs. Cox) is moving up to First Grade next year and plans to take her current class with her. As we thoroughly enjoyed having her for Abby's teacher, we're both looking forward to having her again next year.
At the end of the year Abby wants to be either a Veterinarian or a Marine Biologist, but wants to work with animals regardless. Her favorite colors are still blue and purple but she's added in red or pink. Abby still has her own unique sense of style, but since she dresses herself and I make sure her clothes are clean, it's all good. She's figured out a way to tie her shoes that involves making the bunny ears and tying them together, but wrapping the lace around one loop is still too frustrating to manage. She so desperately wants to be a big kid by staying up late, having a cell phone, and giving sassy without consequences, but still needs those morning snuggles and goodnight kisses (which I'm beyond thankful for). Abby thinks potty jokes are just the most hilarious thing on the planet, loves watching Kids YouTube videos, experienced her first broken bone (her right arm). This year she's been a delight to watch and I'm looking forward to all that the next school year has for her.
