Abby's Birthday Bash - 7 Years Old!

Happy birthday my sweet Abigail!

This year Abby's birthday was a little over the top. We started the the birthday celebration with a trip to Silver Mountain with all the family. The Akers, Vowels, and Carstens family members all made an appearance, plus friends. Four hotel rooms later and we had a great hallway of mischief. Add in Abby's first time skiing and this weekend was a great way to start off celebrating being seven.

Katie graduated with her Masters in Nursing and didn't want to make a big deal about it. That simply doesn't fly in our family. LOL. So she got at a minimum a cake to celebrate her accomplishment.

The only picture I have of her in the water park. She had a BLAST! One the last night there Grandpa Carstens counted 30 times of going down the slides in just one hour.

And a great video of how awesome Abby did her first time out skiing. I was super impressed by how fast she was going, how she didn't want to stop with the rest of the bunch, and overall just how well she took to it.

Once the excitement of Silver Mountain began to wear down we ramped the birthday celebration back up by having a friend birthday party at Garland's Gymnastics. I had so much fun watching all the kids that I failed in my scrapbooking mission of taking pictures. sigh. At least I got a picture of the amazing cupcake cake that I was able to get for Abby. Apparently unicorns were the theme of the year!

While all the kids had a great time jumping in the foam pit, swinging on the rope swing, and walking along the balance beams the biggest hit for Abby was the bungee bounce she got to do as the birthday child. Her squeals of delight made all the crazy planning worth it!

I think the biggest change that Abby has gone through this year is how much bigger her heart is. While always a "good" child, she now seeks out opportunities to be a great sister, to be a helper for Mom, looking for a friend in need at school, and so on. One of the biggest moments that made me so proud of her this year was making the decision to grow out and then donate her hair for children who have lost their own. It's been wonderful watching her grow up into her own. What a fantastic child she is.
