We recently learned of some bunk beds that a family member had that were collecting dust and thought they would be great for Abby when she graduated from Toddler Bed to Big Girl Bed. During the big
Junkin Family Reunion we decided that this would be the perfect time to pick the bunk beds up as we weren't sure of the next time we'd be in the Seattle area.
So the bunk beds got picked up and then promptly moved to our garage where they barely collected dust before we decided to tackle the big room switching that was to take place. Basically the guest bedroom was becoming Abby's new room including toys, the office/toy room was becoming the guest bedroom, and Abby's room was becoming the office (without toys). Our original plan was to move Abby into her new room and then just see when the other rooms got their update. Well, ten hours later all three rooms (plus moving the treadmill from our bedroom to the garage) were complete!!!

| Here's Nate's sad office. It'd been so invaded by toys that Abby figured his computer stuff was just a bigger toy for her to use and was constantly in trouble for touching it. |
| Old View of the Guest Bedroom (I'd already stripped the bedding before I remembered to take some "before" shots). We basically had room for two bookshelves and the bed. |

| Finally, here's Abby's 'baby' room. |
| And Abby's old 'baby' room is now an Office with no toys! (Still need to put our diplomas up on the wall, but that's waiting for more energy.) |
| And the old Office becomes our new Guest Bedroom (again have to put up pictures). We also got rid of the bookshelves from this room so there's a bit more space for guests when they come. One bookshelf moved into the garage for Nate's use and the other moved into our bedroom (after we'd moved the treadmill to the garage to make room). See I told you it was a switcheroo! |

| Without further adieu....Abby's Big Girl Room! |
| The bunk beds are a nice sturdy oak and we are currently in the process of picking up matching Tinkerbell bedding sets for top and bottom. |
| Her toys fit okay in here. Truthfully, this is just a view of some of them. There's a whole mess of them just shoved under the bed. I can't decide if I want to buy some sliding tubs to store them in, put some of the more unused items in our attic, or just get rid of some altogether. A decision for a future weekend! |

My baby girl Big Girl in her new bed. |
After a week or so with out new room situation we are very pleased with the mixing up that we did. Nate LOVES his new office, especially being able to work during nap time and not have his typing bother Abby (they used to share walls and you could really hear him pound away on the keyboard). I think Abby really likes having access to her toys and books and bed and basically all her stuff (well most of it as the bigger toys are still in the living room) in one location so there's no "you can't go into your toy room because Daddy's working so it's an office right now" comments. The only issue is that she now has access to all her toys when she's supposed to be going to sleep. We've had a few incidences of having to go back into the room to tell her it's night-night time and to stop playing with her toys, but overall we're extremely happy with how well she's transitioned. As for me...I'm just happy that the rooms are back in order again!
We still need to put up pictures in the Guest Bedroom, diplomas in the Office, and her Tinkerbell curtains and decals in Abby's room but that should happen on our next free weekend. As we're still trying to cram in a few last minute summer events it may be the middle of September before we get to it. Oh, well. So long as it's finished before Christmas!
